The post with no name

Howdy folks! Not much substance to be found around the S'nT in quite some time. I'd tell you that this post would change some of that but I'd be lying. Some of you may remember that I signed up for a marathon many months ago and that that marathon is in a few weeks. But darn it, I have to go on travel for work and won't make it. Was that too many thats in that other sentence? I'm tired of making promises to myself that I don't keep, so I won't make anymore here or elsewhere. I'm happy to report that I'm back in the turret now that fair weather has returned to my fair state. It's not a sweatbox anymore, but very comfortable. It is my favorite spot for writing and reading and once a year or so, painting. Happy Columbus Day! I almost forgot why I'm typing here so carefree on a Monday. What exactly does one celebrate on Columbus day anyway? I'd wikipedia it but I'm feeling lazy. Sometimes I miss the days before wikipedia, google, et cetera. It's too easy to feign knowledge today. It's also too easy to waste time! I think I want a kayak. What do you all think?

Huh? What?

Good night sweet princess and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!

Happy Birthday Jerry

Adieu! adieu! thy plaintive anthem fades
Past the near meadows, over the still stream,
Up the hill-side; and now ’tis buried deep
In the next valley-glades:
Was it a vision, or a waking dream?
Fled is that music: - Do I wake or sleep?

New Plan

I've decided to thrust all my efforts into writing a novel.

Rust and Momentum

I picked up a brush, put some paint on it, and after a lengthy stare down with the canvas, I painted something. But there was much rust and confusion. And I thought, why do I do this to myself again and again? Exercise, painting, music, blogging, etc. I get on a roll, I get some good momentum, a full head of steam and then I stop. And I say tomorrow I'll pick up again, and tomorrow comes and goes, and then a year passes and then I am back at the beginning, step one or two of a thousand mile journey. Deja vu all over again. Enlightenment gained and lost. The genie back in the bottle. Another comeback to come back from. Will I ever learn?

I got a right to sing the blues

A finer blues singer you won't find. They're pitchin' a Wang Dang Doodle in Heaven tonight.

Dear Kitty Jameson

I can't read your blog anymore.  What the shit?!

Oops I did it again!

I signed up for a marathon. Don't worry it's not till November. I may be crazy.

Dear Gillian Welch

Six years since your last album.  What the shit?

Take Me Out

One martini is not enough and three martinis are too many. Since I've been gone, I watched Slumdog Millionaire and I wasn't happy. Since I've been gone, I discovered that I like Sugarland and I'm not sure if I'm okay with that, but I've always been a sucker for green eyed women and if they can sing, forget about it. I watched 3:10 to Yuma and loved it. The last scene is too cool. But me, I've just been takin' 'er easy dude. But spring is here and love is in the air.

Starry Sky

I haven't slept through the night in a week and I can't figure out what is wrong. Lack of sleep is bad for your health, not to mention it leaves you torpid during the day. Insanely long, tediously boring meetings at work put me to sleep, as was evidenced earlier today, maybe I should request we schedule them at 3:47am? Or I should dream of open action items and risk mitigation strategies? Maybe I could record them and play them back on the stereo in the bedroom. I've become quite fond of those survival shows on the discovery channel, like survivorman and man vs wild, and it has led me to want to run into the woods with a knife, flint, and parachute rope to build a shelter with woven sticks and pine needles, catch fish with my bare hands, set traps for rodents, and fall through ice on frozen ponds so that I will have minutes to start a fire and stave off hypothermia. If you don't see any updates to the S&T by April, send a search party please.

Let there be light

That wasn't too bad.

Candlelight

It's my first power outtage as a Richmonder. No apparent reason and only a few houses on the block. Haven't sat through a black out since Isabel, been lucky that way. Now wondering if I should wait it out or go to pub?

I miss it

It used to snow in this part of the world. What happened? I don't know but it's like I live in Arizona. Not that there is anything wrong with Arizona, and don't you know it snows in much of Arizona, but that is to say that I miss snowy days and nights and the perfect quiet of a snow covered landscape.
